Instagram Stories – The new cool?
Instagram came up in August this year with its Instagram stories. The news surfaced on the Internet about this feature which lets you share all the moments of the day. Immediately after its appearance, it has been compared to Snapchat’s Stories and some predicted bad times for Snapchat.
A few months further down the road, we are updating you on the matter having the US market as focus. Did Instagram Stories impact Snapchat? Some facts:
- According to the most stats, Snapchat users spend more time on the app than those of Instagram. Research done by Sensor Tower, a mobile app marketing intelligence company, shows that 32% of the US teenagers use Snapchat and 28% use Instagram.
- Instagram’s advertising and analytics platform is more sophisticated than that of Snapchat.
- Although Snapchat reaches around 100 million users daily, Instagram can be said to be way ahead with its 300 million daily visitors. This existing base reach makes Instagram extremely popular for certain advertisers.
Besides the many similarities between the two, the industry does see differences and concludes that Instagram’s interface is user friendlier and better considered. One of the most appreciated changes Instagram made to the Snapchat Stories model is introducing buttons which make navigation way easier than it is the case with Snapchat.
Instagram or Snapchat?
Instagram stories is easy to use and provides its users an existing follower base to leverage. However, it’s not as cool as Snapchat. The most entertaining part of Snapchat are the fun filters. In short, there are always pros and cons to each of them and their audiences are slightly different.
